Continuing Education Continuing Education (formerly the Williamsburg Institute) provides visitors with the opportunity to spend several days exploring a topic in depth. It offers a variety of educational conferences and seminars. Programs focus not only on aspects of the 18th century, but also on subjects from the 17th, 19th and 20th centuries.
Electronic Field Trips Bring your students to Colonial Williamsburg without leaving the classroom! Through live interactive television, visit the restored colonial capital of Virginia, witness 18th-century life, talk directly to historical interpreters, and vote on issues. Your registration fee includes participation in Internet activities, continuing support from Colonial Williamsburg historians, and a comprehensive teacher's guide with complete lesson plans and facsimiles of original documents and prints. Employees Not all Colonial Williamsburg employees have access to E-mail accounts. If you are trying to reach an employee who you think has E-mail, the addressing convention is (lower case) first initial + last name@cwf.org. Example: jdoe@cwf.org. Historic Trades Ask questions of Colonial Williamsburg's historic tradesmen and -women. Inquiries are answered in the order received and may require 4-6 weeks for response. Include your postal address.
Historical Reenactors Contact the manager of historical reenactments at Colonial Williamsburg for information on how your reenactment unit can participate in upcoming events. Sorry, we are not able to accommodate requests from individuals or families.
Learning Resource Center The Learning Resource Center offers a centralized location to obtain teaching materials. Some items available for sale at the center include: lesson plans, videos, children's literature, teachers' resource books, and reproduction artifacts and documents such as the Virginia Gazette, the Virginia Declaration of Rights, and facsimile 18th-century coins. Library Reference Desk Staff can advise you of resources in the Rockefeller Library but cannot do lengthy research for you. Inquiries are answered in the order received; response may take 4-6 weeks. If photocopies are appropriate, charges are $1.00 per page, with a limit of 25 pages; please advise if you wish to set a lower limit or prefer to receive no copies. Library, Visual Resources Staff can advise you of photographic resources available for use in publications, lectures, and exhibits or for research purposes. Fees for photographic reproductions and publication rights will be charged. Send written requests with all pertinent details via E-mail, or via fax (757) 565-8548.
